The House of Worship VST Plan Covers Volunteer Security Team members for any criminal, civil or administrative legal action stemming from a self-defense incident, and incident in defense of others while acting as a Volunteer Security Team Member at the Designated House of Worship or at an official House of Worship Event. This plan includes the following upgraded coverage: $1,000,000 Civil Liability for each VST member, $1,000,000 Bond for each VST member, and much more. This plan is a single payer plan administered by the House of Worship and requires a minimum of 3 VST members.

About the House of Worship VST Plan

NOTE: The states of New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ) and Washington (WA) do not allow coverage for self-defense incidents. Law enforcement officials only in NY are eligible for coverage.

Requirements

The Plan must be purchased by the House of Worship as a single payer with a minimum of 3 team members. Only Volunteer Members of a House of Worship Security Team are eligible for benefits under the Plan. No coverage will be provided for any individuals compensated to provide security services to the organization.

Volunteer Security Team Members must be legally allowed to carry a firearm in the state and local area of service. It is the sole responsibility of the Volunteer Team Member to understand and comply with Carry laws and regulations in their area. A valid Concealed Carry Permit is required in some states and other states allow Permitless or Constitutional Carry. Either is eligible for benefits under this Plan.

*The VST Plan does NOT provide coverage to the Member for incidents outside of their House of Worship VST responsibilities. A VST member may purchase a separate individual plan from CCW Safe for protection in their personal time away from the House of Worship (contact our Member Services Team for assistance Contact Us.

The CCW Safe House of Worship VST Plan Covers a registered Volunteer Security Team Member for any criminal, civil or administrative legal action stemming from a self-defense incident, and incident in defense of others while acting as a Volunteer Security Team Member at the Designated House of Worship, Facilities of the House of Worship (e.g Offices, Schools, Parking Lots, etc. – owned by the named House of Worship), or at an official House of Worship Event.

A self-defense incident is any incident where force is used pursuant to a reasonable belief that use of deadly force is necessary to protect from imminent danger of death or great bodily harm. This includes any necessary force with ALL weapons and physical force to defend against a life-threatening attack in self-defense. For coverage purposes, this definition is inclusive of defense of others.

Bond Coverage

The registered VST member will each be covered up to the level of a $1.0 Million bond for all recognized use of force responses to life-threatening attacks at their House of Worship, Facilities of the House of Worship (e.g. Offices, Parking Lots, etc. – owned by the House of Worship), or at an alternate location during an official House of Worship Event. The registered VST member is covered in all states except NJ, NY and WA.

Registered VST Member Qualifications

A registered VST (Volunteer Security Team) Member must meet the following qualifications to be eligible to receive benefits under this plan: Volunteer Only – no paid security personnel are eligible, VST member must be on the team roster in the CCW Safe portal* at the time of the incident, VST member meets all other requirements noted on this page, and the House of Worship plan is active and in good standing with CCW Safe.

*The House of Worship administrator has the sole responsibility to update the VST roster in the CCW Safe Member Portal.
