Self Defense Peer Support
The IACP, or International Association of Chiefs of Police, has developed guidelines for officer involved shootings, which have been adopted by thousands of police departments across the country. As stated by the IACP Peer Support Guidelines. “The goal of peer support is to provide all public safety employees in an agency the opportunity to receive emotional and tangible support through times of personal or professional crisis and to help anticipate and address potential difficulties”.

As stated by the IACP Peer Support Guidelines. “The goal of peer support is to provide all public safety employees in an agency the opportunity to receive emotional and tangible support through times of personal or professional crisis and to help anticipate and address potential difficulties”. CCW Safe has created protocols for our members who are involved in a self defense deadly use of force based on the protocols for law enforcement. While we can’t match all that police officers receive after being involved in an on duty shooting, we can provide similar services, and more importantly, provide those services by qualified people with experience. John Risenhoover, CCW Safe’s Critical Response Coordinator, has vast experience in law enforcement, and has personally been involved in shootings, and has been sued from those incidents. Mike Darter, the Co-Founder and CEO of CCW Safe, has also personally been involved in an on duty shooting as a police officer, and has experienced a lawsuit from that shooting.
“Peer Support is real” says John Risenhoover, “and to have someone with experience there for you, is critical if you’re the one that has been involved in a self defense shooting”. CCW Safe provides a Critical Response Team to respond to our members who have been involved in self defense shootings. The response team, including the Critical Response Coordinator and the National Trial Counsel, assists members and their families after a shooting. CCW Safe also provides members with attorneys, investigators, experts, and any cost associated with a criminal or civil trial, as well as administrative actions against their permit.
