In the latest video series “In Self-Defense: The Maddox Case”, we have shown the advantage of having experience in dealing with the aftermath of a shooting on various levels.  We have demonstrated this in the response, in legal matters, in evidentiary matters, and in financial commitment.  

• Experience in Response: Having someone experienced in what you are, and will be going through, is very important.  In fact, it is priceless.  Being certified in peer support, or critical stress response is one thing, but there’s no comparison to actually having a face to face with someone who has experience in using deadly force in a self-defense setting.  CCW Safe’s critical response team actually responds to the location of our members.  They have all personally been involved in law enforcement shootings where they were defending themselves.  Some have even been sued in reference to those incidents.   
• Experience in Legal Matters:  We often hear from people asking if they can have a Second Amendment attorney if they are involved in a self-defense shooting, and see this as a statement from other companies as a benefit.  The problem is, no self-defense incident is a Second Amendment issue.  It is an inalienable right issue, that everyone on the planet has.  The right to Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is an inalienable right recognized in our Declaration of Independence.  What is desperately needed if you are involved in a self-defense shooting and are being charged with a crime, like Stephen was, is an experienced attorney in self-defense cases.  If they are a pro-Second Amendment attorney that is fine, but when it comes to your freedom, experience is of the utmost importance.  Don West brings that experience, and the ability to find qualified attorneys to represent our members. 
• Experience in Evidentiary Matters:  Being able to understand the evidence, how it is collected, how it is tested, and how it will be presented, is an important fact that the CCW Safe  Critical Response Team and National Trial Counsel understands.  Because of our experience in investigations of shootings, of evidence in such cases, and of the role of evidence in a trial, that gives our members a better defense.  In Stephen’s case, understanding what should have been done with the evidence in the case gave a better understanding to Stephen of the what and why in terms of his arrest and charges.  It also directly impacted the location and use of experts in the case. 
• Experience in Financial Commitment: Understanding how to effectively prepare for, and execute the financial commitment for long-term catastrophic cases is an experience that is vital in providing a defense such as the defense of Stephen Maddox.  Due to CCW Safe’s experience in dealing with these types of cases puts CCW Safe ahead of the game.  Proof of that is in the fact that we are the only company in the industry to effectively and successfully defend a start to finish Murder I trial on a self-defense case.
