In Self Defense: The Maddox Case- The Value of Experience
Tuesday we talked about the advantage of having experience on your side if you are involved in a self defense shooting or incident. Today, we hear directly from Stephen Maddox, in his own words, about the value of experience that he received from CCW Safe.
“If I had a million dollars in my bank account, that would not have been enough to save me. It’s the resources that CCW Safe provided.” Stephen said.
Knowing where and what to look for, and who to hire to get that done, is a big part of effectively managing the cost involved in a trial such as the Maddox case.
“Having someone with experience to assess the case and determine what field of expertise is needed is a big deal” said Critical Response Coordinator Gary Eastridge. “You can spend a fortune and not get the right information you need if you’re not careful.”
One point that Stephen talks about in the video is the fact that the forensic pathologist that was hired was able to determine that the medical examiner’s report was wrong, and when presented to them weeks before the trial, they amended the report. This was not the only instance where the experts and investigators on Stephen’s side found discrepancies in the evidence and reporting.
Again, this is the level of experience that CCW Safe can bring to the table when our members are in need of service. Because of our background in law enforcement, we have actual experience in criminal investigations, criminal trials, evidence collection and testing, and more. We ourselves have been on that side, on the streets as patrolmen, investigators, administrators, as well as experience in the courtroom and defending self defense cases.
Mike Darter
Co-Founder/CEO CCW Safe
Mike was a police officer in Oklahoma City from 1991-2001, and a federal contractor for the DOJ from 2001-2011. During his career, Mike investigated and testified in hundreds of violent crimes, including shootings, homicides, and other violent felony crimes.
Mike was involved in a shooting as a police officer and went through a lawsuit from that shooting. The lawsuit was later dismissed, but his experience is what led to the creation of CCW Safe.
