The Aftermath of a Shooting Video Series – Part 1
Welcome to the first video in a multi video series on “The Aftermath of a Shooting”. This course has been taught locally in Oklahoma City and other cities by Mike Darter, co-founder and CEO of CCW Safe, and John Risenhoover, National Critical Response Coordinator for CCW Safe. Mike and John were both involved in on duty shootings as a police officer and a federal agent, and both had experienced lawsuits from those shootings. This first video in the series is open to all, but some future content will only be available to our members. This course talks about some of the things that you may experience if you are involved in a self defense shooting. It also covers things to think about before you are involved in any incident, and if there are no other options, things that you can do to mitigate your risk.

In this first video, Mike Darter talks about some things that CCW Safe recommends to our members to think about before they are involved in any self defense incident. One of the first and most important things to consider is continued training. Training is instrumental in several ways, including the following:
- Continued training raises safety awareness
- Develops and builds proficiency
- Shows responsibility as a concealed carrier
Other topics in the video are firearm and ammunition selection for concealed carry, as well as other things to think about such as social media activity and more.
In the next video, we will talk about police officer involved shootings and how they are typically handled internally.
